Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I was fortunate enough to be raised in a community that valued education highly. I had teachers that I now recognize were true artists in their craft, and they inspired me both during my time in their classrooms and beyond. As a student, I found inspiration in both the study of literature and the study of people: I earned a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Psychology from the University of Michigan. Although I didn’t immediately recognize it, the idea of becoming a teacher was always an itch at the back of my mind, waiting to be scratched.  After working in public relations for a brief time, I decided to return to the classroom and earned my Master of Science in Education from Northwestern University. In teaching I found work that was both demanding and fulfilling on the deepest levels. The joy and energy that comes from working one-on-one with students was always at the root of my passion for teaching. I love being able to see the spark set off in students’ eyes when they grab onto a concept or skill and can make it their own, and I have the opportunity to see this spark ignite as a tutor. I am thrilled to work with Tina to lead our team of accomplished educators, and I work with students in the following areas: English and the humanities, reading and writing support, organization and time management, general homework and study skills support, and test preparation.
